Competition Schedules:
Competitions are typically held Friday through Sunday. Specific call times are usually released approximately two weeks before the event. If a dancer is in multiple routines, they may be required to attend on different days during the same weekend. Competition schedules are created by the competition and are not controlled by studio staff. Dancers should plan to arrive at least 1.5 hours prior to their scheduled call time with hair and makeup completed.
Required Classes:
Ballet and technique classes help dancers build strong fundamentals, improve technique, and reduce the risk of injury. These skills support success across all styles and levels.
Competition Scoring and Judging:
Competition routines are evaluated by a panel of judges using standardized scoring criteria, which varies by competition. Judges typically assess elements such as technique, execution, choreography, musicality, performance quality, and overall presentation. Each routine receives a score based on these factors, and adjudicated feedback is often provided to help dancers continue to grow and improve.
Competition Behavior:
We want competitions to be positive and fun for every dancer. Please treat everyone with kindness and respect on and off the stage. Cheer for all dancers, show good sportsmanship, and use positive words and actions.
